Animals that Live in the Jungle

The experiences planned during this month should focus on jungle animals.  This is a topic that delights both boys and girls.  This theme is a grand opportunity for the adults as well as the children to learn about these animals and how they benefit our environment.

The colors of the month: Orange and yellow

The shape of the month is Octagon (shape with eight sides).

The letters of the month are Jj, Nn, Gg, and Zz


The 1st week will look at cats, lions, leopards, tigers and cheetahs.

The 2nd week will look at animals that live in the grasslands.

The 3rd week will look at apes and monkeys.

The 4thweek will look at elephants and other large gray animals.

Activities for you to do at home with your child:

  • Point out objects that begin with the letters Gg, Nn, Jj, and Zz.  Send objects to school for the sound table.
  • Talk about animals that live in the jungles.
  • Bring books to share that have stories and pictures of wild animals.
  • Point out objects with the octagon shape and the colors of interest - orange and yellow.
  • Watch any television shows that focus on jungle animals with your child and discuss the events being described.
  • Read at least one story together every night.
