WHS Testing

...because there is more to high school than the FCAT.

FCAT

The FCAT is the standard State of Florida test for reading. All 9th and 10th graders are required to take FCAT. Grade 10 students who do not receive a passing score (245*) take an FCAT "retake" offered two times a year until they receive a passing score or graduate.
(*Class of 2013 FCAT retake passing score is 241. C/O 2013 must pass FCAT Math as well.)

Students must pass FCAT Reading with a score of 245 (2013 Retake passing score = 241), or receive a minimum score on the SAT (440) or ACT (18) to receive a standard diploma.
FCAT Fact Sheet

FCAT Writing is administered February 26, 2013 and FCAT Reading is April 9 (Retakes) and 16, 2013 (General).

You can take a look at a sample test for the FCAT 2.0 at the Pearson Access web site.

End of Course Exams

ASVAB

The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple choice test, administered by the United States Military Entrance Processing Command, used to determine qualification for enlistment in the United States armed forces. It is often offered to American high school students when they are in the 11th grade, though anyone eligible to and interested in enlisting can take it.

You must sign up in Guidance to take the test.

PSAT

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a multiple-choice standardized test administered by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) in the United States.

An estimated 1.3 million high school sophomores and juniors take the test each year. At WHS the PSAT is given to all students in grades 9-11.  The scores from the PSAT are used (with the permission of the student) to determine eligibility and qualification for the National Merit Scholarship Program (11th graders only).

PSAT is offered In October.
