Mentoring Make A Difference in Wakulla County
The Wakulla County Mentor Program
is aimed at enhancing the educational opportunities of today's student. The program identifies interested students and matches them one-on-one with volunteer mentors from the community.
Mentors serve as a positive role model by meeting weekly with their student to provide support and guidance.
The Wakulla Mentor Program
is designed to:
-
Reduce the dropout rate
-
Increase independence
-
Enhance the student's self-esteem
-
Increase understanding of the work ethic and awareness of career options
-
Foster law-abiding citizenship
-
Increase opportunities for graduates to attend institutions of higher education
-
Bring the community and the schools together
We Need:
-
Caring individuals willing to give personal attention
-
Role models to help students set and achieve goals
-
Successful educators, business persons, and public sector staff to explain the link between education and the world of work
