Bright FuturesSeniors are reminded toapply for the Bright Futures Scholarship Program NOW at www.FloridaStudentFinancialAid.org. Community Service hours should be turned into Guidance by February 1 for early eligibility. Florida has revamped its Bright Futures scholarship program. There are three major scholarships that provide for tuition and fees ranging from 75% to 100% plus a stipend. The main components are listed below. Contact a guidance counselor for specific details or visit Bright Futures web site. ***Community Service Hours must be pre-approved, and students must complete the required form. Students must also turn in community service hours to Guidance before graduation. ***Seniors wishing to apply for Bright Futures may do so after December 1, 2012. Applications MUST be completed by graduation. All Seniors are Urged to Apply! ***SB2150 – Senate Conforming Bill: Requires all Bright Futures students to file a FAFSA prior to receiving funding in the 2012-13 academic year. The Florida Department of Education (FDOE), OSFA will continue to determine the student’s academic eligibility for a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship. The postsecondary institution will determine (along with residency and citizenship), whether or not the student has submitted his/her annual FAFSA before funding Bright Futures.
